As one of the sponsors, KUSCO is pleased to support YTLC 2012. On January 6-8th, just a week into the New Year, over 250 undergraduate, graduates, and young professionals from across the United States gathered in San Francisco for the 8th Annual Young Generation Technical and Leadership Conference (YGTLC). It was the largest YGTLC to date as it continues to grow exponentially each year. Over 35 organizers and volunteers spent countless hours preparing each program from ice breaking activities, team competitions, leadership workshops, career panels, technical lectures, poster sessions, keynote speakers, local tours and evening entertainment.
The list of keynote speakers featured KSEA President Hosin ‘David’ Lee (founder of YGTLC) as well as distinguished academia and industry speakers – Dr. Dennis Hong (Romela Laboratory at Virginia Tech), Dr. Gene Lee (Disney Animations), Tim Haahs (Tim Haahs Associates), Sean Park (Google Marketing Director), Dr. Luke Lee (UC Berkeley), and Dr. John Kim (UCLA).
Besides the keynote speakers, there were almost 40 participants gave a talk on their research and careers during the Leadership Workshop, Technical Lectures, or Career Panels. The poster session at YGTLC 2012 featured a record of 80 posters each for each day. Some of the new programs this year include the small group discussions in academia and industry, as well as the KSEA Business Venture Challenge with a $10,000 grant to the winner.
YGTLC 2012 kicked off with over 100 participants taking the local tour in two shuttle buses. This was the first year organizing a local tour before the conference and it was a great way for participants to see San Francisco and get to know each other before the conference even began.
