- Keynote speaker – Dr. Truong Nguyen, UC San Diego Topic Summary: The resurgence of interest in 3D films, both from Hollywood and moviegoers, has launched a new era in visual media consumption and research. The public awaits new gadgets that will free them form the two-dimensional confines of existing imaging technology, and the corporations are all eyeing the limitless market for the next hot product. There are many open research questions, which will be discussed in this talk: what are the technical issues associated with processing 3D videos? How do we measure the video quality? What modifications are needed to accommodate the transmission of 3D videos? Also, given a 3D video, what applications can we find beyond entertainment?

- Keynote speaker – Dr. Dewey Ryu, UC Davis Topic Summary: There are ample opportunities for your career choices and advances-some offered to you and some your own making. There are some very well recognized common qualities and characteristics among many successful leaders in all fields of professional career pursuits. There are some very challenging future career opportunities: teaching and research in academia; research manufacturing and management in industry; and policy planning and implementation in government service sectors. All of these are very closely linked to well-being of global population and mega trend of global economy. In addition, the author’s thoughts on the subject and reflections on his personal experience will be shared with the next generation leaders.
