Oregon chapter (KSEA chapter 62) hosted The 9th North West US-Korea Conference on BNCIT Systems Technology on October 4-5, 2014 with support of six other Northwest regional chapters; Seattle Washington chapter (Washington), Sacramento (California), Silicon Valley (California), Boise Idaho Chapter, Berkeley Chapter (UC Berkeley & Livermore), and Northwest (Washington). The conference was held at Portland State University, 1900 SW 4th Avenue, Portland, OR 9720. This conference was funded by KSEA, KUSCO, KITECH and participating local chapters. The conference chair was Professor Sung Yi (Portland State University).
Two day conference provided with 7 technical sessions such as Keynote talk sessions, Aerospace and Mechanical Technology (AMT), Bio/Medical Science and Technology (BMTS), Environmental and Energy Technology (EET), Information Technology (IT), Nano Science and Technology (NST), and poster session. Total participants were about 100 members from above seven regional chapters. Throughout these sessions, total 28 oral speakers and 27 posters presented various topics. Typical oral presentation was given in 20-minute slot per presenter. This conference provided a forum for the Korean and non-Korean scientists and engineers in the region to have a great opportunity of meeting each other and discussing /exchanging recent research topics/trends. Overall, this was a great event to all conference attendees and to local Seattle based chapter members. Professor Mark Weislogel from Portland State University and Dr. Trevor Snyder from Xerox gave great speeches on “Fluids in Space: Low-gravity Research” and “3D Systems Overview”, respectively, as keynote speakers .
From KSEA Headquarter, Dr. Kookjoon Ahn (KSEA President, CA DOT) and Mr. Steve Lee (KSEA Vice President, CA DOT) came far to celebrate the NWRC2014 and gave great guest speeches.
Dr. Kookjoon Ahn (KSEA President) and Dr. Sung Yi (Conference Chair) gave Excellent Presentation Award to the graduate students who presented their great work in this event.
Overall, the conference was a great success.
