The opening ceremony of KIOST-NOAA Lab Extension held on May 10th at the conference room, Korea-U.S. Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO). This ceremony was sponsored by Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST), NOAA, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of South Korea (MOF), and KUSCO. Jung-Keuk Kang, president of KIOST, Gheewhan Kim, Minister for Economic Affairs, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States, James Turner, director of NOAA International Affairs, Heuijin Ji, director general, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Republic of Korea, Jong-Deok Kim, director of KUSCO were invited to have signboard hanging ceremony in front of the office, give their congratulatory addresses. Jong-Deok Kim, director of KUSCO gave his toast remark and Jung-Keuk Kang, president of KIOST presented an appreciation plaque to Jong-Deok Kim, director of KUSCO. There were more than 50 participants including government officials from NOAA, MOF, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, KSEA, and KUSCO and professors and scientists from KIOST, NOAA, NASA, IMET, University of Delaware, University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, and University of Texas to congratulate its opening.
