The 2nd Korea-US Oceanic and Atmospheric S&T Workshop held on May 11th at KUSCO conference room. This workshop was hosted by KIOST and sponsored by KIOST-NOAA Lab, MOF, Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, South Korea (MSIP), KUSCO, KSEA, and Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United State. Jung-Keuk Kang, president of KIOST, Heuijin Ji, director general of MOF, Billiana Cicin-Sain, professor at University of Delaware and Hyungmin Chung, president of KSEA were invited for their opening remark and congratulatory addresses.

There were 21 presentations related with global issues in ocean science by Korean and US government officials and researchers. The workshop provided an opportunity of information exchange and individual networking among Korea-US policymakers and scientists in order to develop collaborative researches. There were also proposal presentations by Korean-American scientists for collaborative researches with KIOST.

There were more than 50 participants including ocean science related scholars and government officials from KIOST, MOF, the Embassy of South Korea, NOAA, NASA, University of Delaware University of Texas, IMET, University of Maryland, Rutgers University, KSEA, and KUSCO.

KIOST-NOAA Lab plans to hold next workshop in 2014, inviting distinguished speakers from ocean science field.
