The representatives of The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) visited KUSCO on March 6th to discuss possible collaboration on “U.S.-Korea Cooperative Exchange on Ocean and Coastal Resource Management and Science.” NOAA collaborates with federal ministries and non-governmental organizations in the Republic of Korea to implement science and technical cooperation in ocean and coastal resources management. NOAA and the Korean Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) and the Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries (MIFAFF) have a twelve-year relationship under a series of formal agreement, called Joint Project Agreements (JPA) to conduct this project through 2016. There is an average of 30 projects each year under the JPA and there are 36 JPA activities in 2013.

Regarding all detailed logistics about how KUSCO can be involved in this project will be discussed in the near future and KUSCO believes, as one of the major roles, that involvement of this project would add many values to promote S&T cooperation between the U.S. and Korea.
