KUSCO is pleased to announce our support for “The 2nd KSEA Southeastern Regional Conference” which was held on April 6-7, at Hyatt Place hotel, GA. Its theme was “Getting Ready for 2020” focusing on sharing trends and anticipated progress in various science and engineering fields with KSEA members and emphasizing helping young generation members establish their near-future career goals by hosting a leadership seminar and YG career forum.
In overall, over 30 regular members, 20 graduate students, and 50 undergraduate students participated during the 2nd SERC.
Two technical sessions, entitled Science for 2020 and Engineering for 2020, followed the keynote speech with 10 presenters from universities and private companies. The Science for 2020 session introduced a variety of interesting topics such as statistical modelling and applications to biology and economy, air quality forecasting, material science for energy research, and optical remote sensing. The Engineering for 2020 session addressed Nano-technology and its application, network and communication, and data mining. Also, Dr. Choon Keun Park (the Director of Korean Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) shared KITECH’s goals and visions to promote turning Korea’s R&D outcomes into successfully marketable products in U.S.
The 2nd Southeastern Regional Conference was successful in terms of fostering interaction among scientists and engineers from various fields such as universities, government, and companies. In addition, it allowed members to have an opportunity of mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and increasing number of KSEA-GA chapter membership. In fact, over 40 regular/graduate student members have renewed or newly joined KSEA-GA chapter through this conference.
