Minister of Education, Science and Technology in Korea, Dr. Joo-ho Lee visited to the US from May 10th to 14th. Main purpose of this visit was to strengthen collaboration with major U.S. Science & Technology and Education related organizations such as National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Science Technology Policy (OSTP), Department of Energy, Department of Education and Fairfax County Education, etc.
On May 12th, Minister Lee visited the NSF to have a meeting with Dr. Subra Suresh, Director of NSF accompanied by Director General of NRF, Dr. Kyuhan Bae along with other delegations. Discussion was focused on future collaboration in the robotic & brain engineering area, the East Asia Pacific Summer Institute (EAPSI) program, a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teacher exchange program and renewing of MOU between NRF (former KOSEF) and so on.
Minister Lee also had a meeting with Dr. John Holdren, Director of Office of Science Technology Policy (OSTP) on May 11th. In addition to this, Minister Lee exchanged a MOU with Dr. Steven Chu, Secretary of Department of Energy and also visited to the US Department of Education and Energy as well.
