New President of KUSCO Appointed

KUSCO is pleased to announce our new President,Dr. Se-Jung, Oh. He has assumed his position as of January, 20th 2011. Dr. Oh is a new appointed
President of National Research Foundation of Korea as well.

Dr. Oh was born in 1953 in Seoul, Korea and graduated from the department of physics at Seoul National University (SNU) in 1975. He received his Ph.D in
physics from Stanford University in 1982. Dr. Oh was a full professor at the
Department of Physics and Astronomy, Director of the Center for Strongly
Correlated Materials Research (CSCMR).

His research interest focuses on the study of electronic structures of strongly
correlated electron systems, especially transition metal compounds and rare-earth materials.
He (co-) authored more than 160 research papers in international journals.

Dr. Oh has also been quite active in advising Korean government in S&T policies. He served as a member
of Presidential Commission for the 21st Century of Korean in the committee of science and technology and environments (’89-’94), a member of Presidential Advisory Council on S&T in Korea (’99-’10), a member of
the Committee for the Promotion of Basic Research in Korean government (’07-’08), and so on.
