KUSCO News WEST R13 Orientation in Seoul

WEST Program Director Jim Kelman traveled to Seoul in early April for the orientation of Round 13 of the WEST Program, currently in its second five-year cycle.  KUSCO will receive 50 participants this round, with participants arriving for English programs in New York (Queens College), Washington DC (Mentora College) and Northern Virginia (Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale and Alexandria campuses, and Virginia Tech).  Following completion of their English language program, they will then be placed into a number of professional internships, consistent with their academic majors.

In addition to the orientation, Jim also held discussions with the National Institute for International Education (the Korean organization recently designated to administer the WEST and other Korean exchange programs, and the U.S. Embassy in Seoul).  Jim also met with a number of returned WEST participants, all of whom are making progress with their careers, which they credit their experience on the WEST Program as a critical element of their success.
